Sweet Walnut Milk

After transitioning to vegan we really struggled to find a good, non-processed, nut milk for the family to enjoy. So we decided to make our own. This is such a quick, simple recipe it is easy to make as needed, or can be made ahead and stored in the fridge up to 3 days.

What Makes The Milk Sweet?

Like we've mentioned before, we don't like added sugars and other processed foods, so you won't find any of those unhealthy ingredients in this delicious milk. 

The secret ingredient is dates! This lovely treasure is one of our new loves, it is a naturally sweet treat and makes this milk naturally sweet. You will feel confident giving this to your children in the morning!

Sweet Walnut Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 -1/2 cups of walnuts (soaked overnight)
  • 4-1/2 cups of spring water
  • 1/2 cup of pitted dates
  • 3 Tbs of sea moss gel (optional- but highly recommended)
  • Cheese cloth
  • Glass jar

Preparing the spices

  • Drain and add walnuts, water and dates to the food processor.
  • Blend on high for about 2 minutes or until the mixture is smooth.
  • Line your glass jar with a cheese cloth and pour the mixture into the cheese cloth.
  • Squeeze out all liquid from the cheese cloth.
  • Rinse the food processor to eliminate any debris from the walnuts and dates and then add the milk back into the processor.
  • Optional Steps:
    • Add in sea moss and blend quickly, just long enough to mix this into the milk.
    • Pour into the glass jar and store in the fridge.
