10 Benefits Of Working With A Fitness And Nutrition Coach

Navigating the complicated world of diet and exercise can be absolutely exhausting. With so much information flooding Google about weight loss, the latest fad diets, and workout plans with extreme weight loss promises it is no wonder people are so confused when it comes to proper nutrition and exercise.

Yuri and I have been there, and tried all of the fad diets, worked out hours a day only to end up exhausted, hungry, sore and hurting our metabolism in the process. And after all of that, our weight would spiral back to the starting point, if not gain even more weight.

That's why we decided to educate ourselves and learn the skills and gain the knowledge to not only help ourselves, but others who have experienced the same frustrating circle.

Ashley is a certified fitness, nutrition, and wellness expert and Yuri is working on obtaining his certification in fitness, nutrition, and weight loss. We're here to coach you utilizing the knowledge we have gained through our studies to help you live a healthier life.

1.) Accountability

One of the toughest things about maintaining a nutrition and fitness program is accountability. Especially if you do not have support at home while going through the transition.

It can be easy to slip up and fall back into those old habits. Working with a coach, you will have a designated plan and check in points to hold you accountable for the work you have put in. That's why it is so important to work with a fitness and nutrition coach to hold you accountable for staying on track and reaching the goals and milestones that you have set up for yourself.

2.) Personalized Nutrition Plan

Too many programs out there lack focus on the individual and create a generalized nutrition plan. Every body is created differently. Everyone has different food preferences and tastes. That's why it is vital that we don't conform to eating the exact same meal plan.

It is so important to receive a meal plan specific to your body's needs and your personal taste.

3.) Personalized Fitness Program

Just like with nutrition, it is vital that we don't all conform to the same fitness program. There are 3 body types that you can fall into.

  1. Ectomorph- burns muscle and fat quickly
  2. Endomorph- holds onto fat and muscle more easily
  3. Mesomorph- atheletic build

Depending on which body type you are will greatly affect your fitness program, along with other factors such as injuries, personal goals, and preferences.

4.) Expertise

With so much information on the internet, tv, and social media it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what you're supposed to do. Working with a coach who is an expert in their field takes that work off of you and allows you to focus on your transformation.

5.) Education

Not only will your coach tell you what to eat and how to workout, they'll be teaching you WHY you should consume certain foods and perform certain exercises. This is KEY! In order to grow and maintain your success, not only do you need to know what to do right now, but you must understand why you're doing something so that you can take control of your life with the new knowledge you will gain.

6.) Motivation

Staying motivated can be one of the hardest parts of a transformation journey, especially if you are doing it alone.

Having a coach that will cheer you on and provide you with that emotional support and motivation can be  the key to success!

7.) Individuality

No one wants to be just another number. We all have our own goals, strengths, and opportunities. The best coaches create programs specifically designed for YOU!

Everyone's schedule and lifestyle is different. That's why it is important to work with a coach who you feel comfortable with and can let them know what YOU need so they can design the perfect program.

8.) Goals

Setting attainable and progressive goals is important in order to stay consistent and keep motivated.

If your goals are too big it can get discouraging when you're not hitting them in the time expected. Setting incremental goals keeps you motivated and continuously working to hit new personal records.

In addition to measurable goals, you should also be incorporating physical goals such as doing a pull-up or running a 5k, or whatever your personal goal is for your journey.

9.) Monitoring Progress

It can be hard to know what measurements to track and remembering to keep track of your progress.

A coach can monitor your progress and organize your data as you progress over time. A coach can also help you find a measurement that works best for you whether that's measurements, progress pictures, or weight. While weight is the most common, the scales don't always paint a full picture, especially if you're strength training and gaining muscle.

10.) Learn Proper Form

Working out without proper form can lead to injuries ranging from minor to severe. The best way to avoid injuries when working out is to work with a personal trainer or fitness coach who can teach you proper form and monitor you to make sure you are learning and correctly implementing the proper techniques.
